The attack is launched!
Last week, the brand new UCI Pro Tour took off with the 63rd
edition of Paris-Nice. SAUNIER DUVAL – PRODIR, one of the
smallest teams of the 20 selected, set the tone from the outset! The
Spanish formation has one clear style: “attack”, showing
the team’s offensive strategy for the season’s quest.
A team sport above all
SAUNIER DUVAL – PRODIR’s composition is particular. Indeed,
there is no strongest man, no defined leader, but an entire team of strong
riders working in harmony. This formula could be the right one for
the new Pro Tour and may create the difference this season.
The day after Paris-Nice, team manager Mauro Gianetti explains his choices and ambitions:
How is SAUNIER DUVAL – PRODIR different from the other pro teams?
MG: This small team is interdependent and very combative; “we give everything till the finish line” with one objective: the victory! We have two big assets: our Directeurs Sportifs, Joxean Fernandez Matxin and Pietro Algeri, who have the ability to obtain the maximum from their riders.
How is the strategy of the team set up?
MG: There is no leader in the team; we believe in the group. Rather than working the whole season for one man, each rider has the chance to be a leader and this creates huge motivation. Among the SAUNIER DUVAL – PRODIR team, everybody believes in victory.
What is your directive for the continuation?
MG: I hope that the team will continue on in this “offensive” way. The sponsors are also very satisfied to see the team so active in the early season and the motivation is high.
