SCOTT Launches a New Generation of Road Bike

C1 - An ultra light, stiff and fast carbon road bike
Today, after more than three years of top secret research and development with our engineers, riders from our Jean Delatour Team and countless hours of testing, we are proud to introduce the Scott C1 - a new generation of road bike. From our experience of high tech materials and production techniques the C1 project has grown to become the ultimate statement in ultra light, high-tech road bike design.

The C1 was constructed for our professional road racing team (Team Jean Delatour) and for riders that are always looking for a performance edge in ultra light, high-performance products. In the always-gruelling Tour de France and the technical sectons of Paris-Roubaix, professional riders need a bike that can provide a super light solution, yet can absorb shock and vibrations to reduce fatigue. The C1 is the only answer: a road bike that is super-stiff for sprinting yet able to absorb shock, ultra light for climbing and super responsive for high speed downhills. No compromise: the perfect solution.

Inspiration
From the very beginning, the aim for Scott was clear: to establish a new benchmark in the road bike world by creating an ultra light carbon bike with the same characteristics as the legendary Endorphin which had enormous capabilities of shock absorption.

When the new C1 was first born and revealed to our team, eyes filled with astonishment and heart beat began to rise whilst everyone admired the details and shapes… After the first tests the teams' enthusiasm far exceeded all expectations! Pierre Bourguenoud (CH) enthused: "For me it's clear, I can not ride with any other cycle than the C1 anymore."

For three years Thomas Frischknecht, one of the most respected bike athletes and multiple cross country and cyclo cross champion, has been riding for SCOTT. He was also very curious to try the new C1 for himself and was totally blown away with enthusiasm for this bike. After a couple of days of testing, his comments were: "Fantastic! This bike is stiff enough for high speed and sprints, but also absorbs shocks incredibly!"

Technology
The new Team Issue C1 frame is an incredible 895 gr. Together with the new C1 SL carbon fork (280 gr) the C1 combo will be lighter than a lot of frames on the market without fork! In order to reach this incredible ultra light weight, SCOTT is using the HMF (High Modular Fibres) technology, which has already been used for the legendary "Strike" full suspension Mountain Bike, the lightest and strongest MTB frame on the market.

A new reference : the SDS
The biggest advantage of the new C1 is without doubt the SDS (Shock Dampening System). SDS is a special lay up technique of the carbon fibres and produces an amazing absorption of impacts and shocks by frame and fork. SDS reduces the riders fatigue drastically and enables the rider to control the bike better. Finally it simply results in great riding and superior control of the bike without compromising the lateral stiffness which is so important for efficient and powerful pedalling. This remarkable invention also surprised and exceeded the expectations of Pascal Ducrot, Vice president of SCOTT and former road bike professional: "For me the incredible lightness of the C1 is not its trump, the SDS is! That's the innovation which makes the whole difference to every other road bike I have been riding so far."
