Millar is back!

David Millar, who longed for this day to come, won the individual time-trial today at the 2006 Vuelta a Espana. Fabian Cancellara (CSC) clocked almost the same time as David, while the third best time was posted by Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana). The SAUNIER DUVAL-PRODIR team is happy to share this great moment with David. “I am very happy,” Millar exclaimed, bursting with joy. “I’ve been feeling better and better over the past two weeks, and I’m much more confident now. Today’s course was quite taxing and in the last part it was extremely tight, and that is where I made the difference.”

For the Manager, Mauro Gianetti, this is a special victory: “Every triumph is great, but this one has been particularly good. We’ve believed in David all along, and when he came back, we worked very hard together, and now we can share this moment of happiness, which he deserves so much.”

José Ángel Gómez Marchante posted the 13th best time in the time-trial, dropping down in the GC, where he now stands 5th, 2:06 behind the leader, Alejandro Valverde (CEI).
