SCOTT Is Back In The U.S.

After a seven-year absence from the American bicycle market, SCOTT is back.

A few years ago, SCOTT decided to stop distributing bikes in the U.S. market in order to concentrate on the European market and on the development of high-end products and new technologies. The brand has always been very well established in the wintersport and motocross markets but the demand for the brand by U.S. bike consumers has become bigger and bigger.

SCOTT was founded in 1958 in Sun Valley, Idaho, after a revolutionary innovation of a ski pole by Ed Scott (he invented the first tapered aluminum ski pole). Since 1998, Scott's international headquarters has been in Givisiez, Switzerland. Beginning in April 2004, the Scott offices in Sun Valley will expand to once again welcome the bike division, which will be managed by Scott Montgomery.

Today, SCOTT bikes are distributed in 38 countries and are considered to be a bicycle industry leader. The philosophy is still the same: INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN of performance products, represented by the best ambassadors, such as Thomas Frischknecht, CH (marathon world champion), Timo Pritzel, GER (dirt world champion), Pro Tour road racing team Saunier Duval-Prodir (actuellement 9th in the current UCI ranking).

The plan is to launch the SCOTT bicycle brand at the Sea Otter Classic in mid-April in California.
