Reed Tops Podium in St. Louis Thriller
Reed defeats rivals in St. Louis thriller
Chad Reed, capitalizing on Ricky Carmichael’s mechanical problems and James Stewart’s inability to keep it on two wheels, rode an aggressive and nearly flawless race to capture his first win of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross series in St. Louis, Mo. this last Saturday night. The race started with Ivan Tedesco getting the holeshot and Reed just behind him. James Stewart suffered a poor start and began toward the back of the pack, however within a few laps Tedesco, Reed, and Stewart where all separated by less than a second. Stewart passed Reed momentarily, but Reed passed him back in the next straightaway. After a few more turns, Reed executed an aggressive yet clean pass and moved by Tedesco. Stewart clipped a tuff block and high-sided, leaving him on the side of the track struggling to start his stalled motorcycle. At this point, Reed turned on the afterburners, extending his lead to an impressive fifteen seconds toward the end of the race. The win puts Chad Reed atop the series standings with a nine point lead over last season's champion, Ricky Carmichael.
