Crump leads the Speedway GP

Round four of the 2006 FIM Speedway World Championship will be held at the magnificent 75,000 seat Millennium Stadium in Cardiff next Saturday night, with Aussie star Jason Crump out to book a spot in the final for the fourth straight time this year.

Crump has been in scintillating form since the opening Grand Prix in Slovenia with two wins and a second so far, and is currently holding a 15-point lead in the championship over Dane Nicki Pedersen.

Crump, the winner of two British Grand Prix titles in 1996 and 1998, has yet to win at Millennium Stadium but will start as the bookies favourite at the event considered by many to be the most prestigious Grand Prix on the 10-round calendar.

“I’m really looking forward to this event. Racing in a world class stadium like this is awesome. It really has an electric atmosphere like no other event and it’s the one every rider wants to win. I’m ready for the challenge and naturally, I want to win here, but it’s going to be tough.” said the 30-year old Australian.

“Nicki (Pedersen), Greg (Hancock) and Tomasz (Gollob) are all in top form at present and we haven’t seen the best from Leigh (Adams) or Tony (Rickardsson) yet. Throw in Scott Nicholls who wants to win his home GP and a few others and we have a real challenge on our hands, but I can assure you I will be giving it my very best and hopefully, get a much better result than last year. We will see what happens as the night unfolds.”
