Reed bleeds in attempt to win U.S. Open
LAS VEGAS, Nevada- Saturday night at the 2007 U.S. Open showed just how determined Chad Reed was to win the $250,000 Trifecta Bonus. After a perfect Friday night with Reed winning the Superpole by setting the fastest lap, getting the hole-shot in the main event and winning it, Reed was dead set on winning it all when Saturday night’s main event began.

In the main event, knowing the hole-shot was critical to winning the Trifecta Bonus, Reed held it all the way into the first corner even though Tim Ferry had a wheel on him. Reed took out Ferry, initiating a chain reaction, causing Short and Langston to also crash.

After the getting back on his bike, Reed battled his way through the pack, but two more crashes kept him from finishing in the top five. Reed, bloodied by an injury sustained in the first-turn pile up, expressed no regrets in his podium interview when questioned about his aggressive riding during the main. If this year’s U.S. Open is any indication of the upcoming Supercross Season, it will be one to remember.
