06.08.2009
Marino Vanhoenacker celebrated his third consecutive victory on Sunday at Antwerp Ironman 70.3 in 3:41:45 hours, followed by the Australian Paul Matthews and Bert Jammaer from Belgium.

The titleholder of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team took the lead on the bike course and his persecutors were not able to close the gap until the finish line. In the end, he was more than three and a half minutes faster than the second-placed Paul Matthews.

This season, Marino Vanhoenacker was the man to beat so far: He participated in four races and won three of them. In the fourth race, he finished second. “At the moment everything’s perfect”, said the Belgian after his success. “And it’s always special to win at home.” The 33-years-old had won Ironman Austria just four weeks ago: “I’m happy about this performance so soon after the Ironman Austria. But I’m going to boost even more at the World Championship in October. In Hawaii, I want to show the race of my life.”
