SCOTT freeskiers place second and third at Engadinsnow Big Air
Corvatsch, Switzerland February 20, 2008 - After the spectacular lines we saw on Monday from the freeriders, it was now up to the acrobats of the sport to pump up the crowd and show the people a good time. A fine kicker was shaped and the athletes were spinning in all directions and grabbing every which way.
Only the ten best riders would proceed to the finals, where five invited riders were waiting to challenge the qualifiers. In the field of international starters, 15-year old SCOTT youngster Elias Ambühl managed to qualify as high as third for the finals.

The finals went down as most big air comps do. The riders showed their best tricks and were going bigger and showing more difficulty with every jump. The level of riding was really high and that didn’t make it any easier for the judges to choose a winner.
Elias, riding strong all winter but showing nerves during competitions, finally stuck all of his jumps in the final run and finished, as the youngest competitor, on the podium in third place. German SCOTT rider Roy Kittler, who has been a name in the sport for quite some years now, finished second. Roy is known for his left side and right side spins, combined with extremely hard grabs. Patrick Hollaus, also riding for SCOTT, finished in fifth place.
The only skier to beat the SCOTT team riders was unknown rider Boen Furgeson from Australia, who rode strong and consistently throughout the day.
