U.S. Open and World Quarterpipe

SCOTT USA's Tyler Emond and Kevin "Hexi Mexi" Casillo shined at the '04 U.S. Open in Stratton, Vermont, as well as at the '04 World Quarterpipe Championships held in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. Competitors had to battle blowing snow, wind and flat light to prove their worth at the U.S. Open Men's finals in slopestyle. Tyler's run consisted of Cab-to-nosepress on the up-flat-down box, lipslide came-off-switch, Cab-five mute, back-five nosegrab, Cab-nine melon, front-five stale, finishing with a Cab-to-Smith on the uprail - a run that placed Tyler in Fifth Place.

Following the U.S. Open, we headed to Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, with Hexi Mexi, so he could defend his title as '03 World Quarterpipe Champion. The park crew built a beautiful 22-foot quarterpipe with a 25-foot Eddie Van Halen guitar on top serving as the height meter. After making it to the finals, it was a throw-down for top honors. After stomping a successful frontside nine, Hexi tried to throw down an unsuccessful 10 (see picture). Hexi ended up in second place, winning a First-Place loser T-shirt, and a trip around the world with Red Bull Sports Marketing Manager Matt Barber.
