Tallon Vohland, SCOTT pro racing manager, expressed his enthusiasm with the signing, “Tim is the perfect athlete to partner with as he is extremely selective about the products he uses. Tim selects products which give him a competitive advantage and minimize the risk of injury. It was only natural that Tim’s positive experiences over the years with SCOTT goggles would lead him to want to use other SCOTT products.” Adam Greene, Genius boot product manager, is also excited to have Ferry on the team. “The Genius boot is so cutting-edge and such a departure from standard leather boots that people have a hard time believing it works. They are doubtful that the Genius Boot can offer the protection it does and still offer performance. Tim will show, beyond a doubt, the Genius boot offers performance.”

Ferry will wear the Scott Genius boot in competition for the first time when he starts his campaign for the Monster Energy AMA SX Series Championship in Anaheim on January 3, 2009.

SCOTT riders pack podium at Des Nations http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1541/scott_riders_pack_podium_at_des_nations Tue, 30 Sep 2008 16:09:44 -0600 SCOTT athletes from the United States and France showed consistency and world class speed at the Red Bull Motocross Des Nations this past weekend. The race was held at Donington Park in England.

Ryan Villopoto of the United States squad displayed the same form as last year, when he smoked the field at Budds Creek, and crushed the competition in his MX2/MX3 race. Sebastian Pourcel of France let the American squad know that he was not going to back down and lead the way to the checkers in MX1/MX3 race. Those two wins coupled with high place finishes for Nicholas Aubin and Tim Ferry secured the top two podium spots for the United States and France.

Five of the six athletes on those teams are sponsored by SCOTT. SCOTT is proud to sponsor such accomplished athletes and would like to congratulate them on their competitive efforts and successes at the Motocross de Nations

Livia does it! http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1512/livia_does_it Mon, 08 Sep 2008 9:16:21 -0600
Livia Lancelot first ever Motocross Women World Champion

Preparing for the last two months by putting in countless laps on sand tracks, Livia significantly improved her sand riding. In the first moto, Steffi Laier was able to stay just ahead of Livia all the way to the checkered flag. Livia finished second. It looked as if they would finish in the same order in the second moto but Laier suffered a mechanical and Livia took over the lead. Livia was able to hold off the field to score not only a moto win but also an overall GP win and the Championship.

The men were also racing in Lierop. In the MX2 class, the KTM boys Rattray and Searle are still the ones to beat. Nicolas Aubin is back up to pace and took the third place with a (4/3) finish, he also is third in overall points.
In the MX1 class, home rider Marc de Reuver won the GP (1/3) while Max Nagl rode to a (5/2) finish netting him third overall.

Nicolas Aubin, back on the podium!

The next stop in Fraenza, Italy is the final round and there both MX1 and MX2 title will be decided.

Great Year for "Redwine" http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1509/great_year_for_redwine Tue, 02 Sep 2008 9:00:36 -0600 The lifespan of professional motocross racers is expected to be around the late twenties. It is believed that the accumulated injuries and intensity of racing take too much of a toll on riders to still be competitive beyond that. Tim Ferry is changing these expectations and opening eyes to the fact that peak-level performances are still possible into the early thirties.

Ferry re-emphasized that point this past weekend at Steel City by finishing 2-2 and sewing up second place in the Toyota AMA Outdoor National Series. Ferry had a fierce battle with Broc Hepler, a rider almost a decade his junior, in both motos. Ferry, riding smart and consistent, was able to put together fast laps and move ahead of Hepler late in both motos. Grant Langston commented that he was going to start calling Ferry “Red Wine” because he just keeps getting better with age. It certainly seems like for Ferry, age has smoothed out his riding, much like it does for the flavor of red wine.

Congratulations to Tim Ferry on a well deserved second place in the Championships.

King of X-Fighters http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1504/king_of_x_fighters Thu, 28 Aug 2008 11:21:14 -0600 Having the consistency to always finish in the points and survive a freestyle routine that has enough risk to make the top step of podium is the primary challenge of the Red Bull X-Fighters. Mat Rebeaud met that challenge and was able to impress the jaded panel of judges at each round without stepping off the motorcycle for a dirt nap or worse. That is why after completing five of six rounds in the series Rebeaud has already mathematically secured the Red Bull X-Fighters Series crown.

His latest victory in Germany was especially sweet for Rebeaud, as he was able to best Shane Lusk, who had beaten him earlier in the month at the X-Games. Rebeaud comes into the final round, to be held in Warsaw, Poland with the benefit of knowing he has already sewn up the series. This will allow Rebeaud free reign to loosen up and put on a freestyle clinic marked by extremely risky and difficult tricks for the fans in Poland.

PC Packs Podium http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1488/pc_packs_podium Mon, 25 Aug 2008 10:11:00 -0600 Motocross 338 or Southwick as it’s more often called by the MX public makes extreme demands of both man and machine. Those who find success there have the best built, most reliable motocross bikes and are themselves in peak physical condition. For this reason it makes sense that Team Pro Circuit took two of the three available podium spots.

Ryan Villopoto “wrung out” his Pro Circuit Kawasaki 250F in the first moto as he battled back from a 20th place start. Pushing himself and his bike, Villopoto was able to catch and pass his teammate Brett Metcalfe who, benefitting from a good start and excellent conditioning was in first place when he was passed.
In the second moto, Villopoto grabbed the holeshot and as the saying goes, never looked back. Metcalfe, working the track and every line available, made it into third behind Ryan Dungey. Metcalfe was able to hold third for the remainder of the race and Villopoto maintained his lead for the win. Team Pro Circuit showcased their superior machinery and well-conditioned athletes by securing first and third overall in the race.

The final round of the AMA Outdoor Nationals is this coming weekend at Steel City.

Hat Trick for Villopoto http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1485/hat_trick_for_villopoto Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:59:06 -0600 Last weekend at the Spring Creek AMA National, Ryan Villopoto won his third consecutive AMA Outdoor National Lites title. Villopoto left no question as to who should be champion; in winning nearly every moto this year, his points lead was so vast that he secured the championship with two rounds still remaining.

Villopoto’s winning ways began in his first full year of competition on the outdoor circuit back in 2006. Since then, he has continued to build momentum year after year, and has, in the minds of most people in the sport, moved past the competition and into a league of his own.
Fortunately for his fellow Lites riders, Villopoto will make the move to the premier class or MX class in 2009. There he will face off with another multi-time Lites champion, James Stewart. That will be one of the most anticipated matchups in years.

Scott Presenting Sponsor of the Spring Creek National http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1452/scott_presenting_sponsor_of_the_spring_creek_national Wed, 13 Aug 2008 17:14:08 -0600 Scott is the presenting sponsor for the Spring Creek Outdoor National taking place in Millville, MN this coming weekend. The Spring Creek round of the Outdoor Nationals series is a special event, as many up and coming amateurs debut their skills in hopes of impressing Pro teams and finding a ride.

Longtime Scott Pro Race Support Czar and well know motocross icon, Bevo Forti had this to say about Spring Creek: “With the intense heat, stifling humidity and deep sand, Spring Creek is a great litmus test to see if any of these amateurs have the conditioning and skills to race a Pro event”. Two such amateurs set to compete at Spring Creek are Scott- sponsored riders Ben Lamay and Vince Friese. Just two weeks ago Lamay and Friese finished up their amateur careers racing at Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Championships. Scott is thrilled to be sponsoring the Spring Creek event and many of the young amateurs, like Ben Lamay and Vince Friese, who will be entering a Pro race for the first time.

Rebeaud scores Silver http://scottusa.com/news/moto/1451/rebeaud_scores_silver Tue, 05 Aug 2008 14:19:56 -0600 At X Games 14 last weekend, Swiss freestyle star Mat Rebeaud found out what he already knew; every jump counts. After disposing of Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg with an unassailable line up of flip-tricks and creative course adaptation in his semi-final run, Rebeaud looked to be on track to win his first gold medal at X Games. Not that it would be easy, as he faced Jeremy Lusk, who had also put on a strong showing on his way to the finals.

Unfortunately, what turned out to be Rebeaud’s Achilles heel was a straight jump in the middle of his run. Looking like he was setting up for a one-handed Superman Seat Grab, Rebeaud aborted the trick and ended up doing a straight air. He followed this with a flurry of technical flips and well executed tricks, but in the end it was not enough. Lusk executed tricks on every jump and barely edged out Rebeaud for the Gold. Rebeaud earned silver, his third in X Games competition.
