Saunier Duval Prodir at the 2005 Tour

A great stage for Garate!
Juan Manuel Garate was part of a group of 13 riders who attacked right at the start of today’s stage. But as the climb up the Col du Corobin got harder, David Moncoutié made a serious attack from the break and pushed hard to arrive solo at the finish line: a French hero on July 14 (Bastille Day)!
Garate’s performance was great: he finished 8th together with the group of chasers and collected precious points in the King of the Mountains Classification. As in the Giro, Garate keeps improving as the Tour unfolds. The race will soon enter the Pyrenees, which might be favourable terrain for him.

Nicolas Fritsch climbed off his bike and had to abandon the race due to health problems. Although he tried to continue on and ride today, a high fever would not allow him to finish the stage.
