Charles Dionne signs with Saunier Duval-Prodir for '06

Sun Valley, Idaho, September 7th, 2005 – Scott USA announced the signing of North American road racer Charles Dionne to the Saunier Duval – Prodir professional cycling team. Dionne is from Quebec City and has been racing professionally for five years. Most noteworthy have been his wins at the San Fransisco Grand Prix in 2002 and 2004. Dionne is also the 2005 National Criterium Champion in his home country of Canada. Dionne raced the past two seasons for Webcor Builders and has also raced for the Saturn and 7-Up squads. “I have always dreamed of racing in Europe and now I finally have the chance to prove myself as an athlete. I am very happy that Saunier Duval - Prodir is providing me this fantastic opportunity,” remarked Dionne. “Now that this goal is realized, I am setting my sights on racing in the tour. I am very impressed with the team that Mauro Gianetti has assembled and also with the Scott CR1. I took a good look at Chris Horners’ bike and it’s exactly what I want, light and stiff; I am definitely excited to race on it.” With the Webcor schedule finished, Dionne is setting his sights on the World Championships in Madrid and on joining his new team to finish out the season in Europe. “I am still uncertain on where I will live but it most likely it will be Girona, Spain,” said Dionne. The team also has a headquarters in Bergamo, Italy which would be his second choice.
