Scott rider Dave Beeson wins 2006 Masters Worlds DH Champs
Sun Peaks B.C., September 4, 2006 - Scott DH rider David Beeson earned his High Octane a set of World Champion stripes over the weekend, piloting it to the top of the podium at the 2006 Masters World Championships. “Enduring a hard downhill racing season is always challenging, but capping it off with a World Championship title makes it an amazing season,” remarked the newly crowned champ. “The course had three separate sections that went straight down the hill for 200 to 300 yards at a time through the roughest terrain many racers had ever ridden, and hit speeds near 40 mph, then headed back into the trees at the midway point,” Beeson said of the Sun Peaks course. “From there, it was fast and flowing through trees, rocks, and roots, all the way to the finish line. The course was one of the craziest, but most enjoyable, I’ve ever ridden.”
It was a tight competition, with the top three finishers separated by less than 1/10 of a second. “These are some of the best riders in the world and I feel very fortunate to stand on top of the podium today. It could have gone to just about anyone here today,” added Beeson.
Beeson plans on enjoying the winter season at home in Utah before starting his 2007 racing schedule in April. He also plans on trying to defend his title next year when the Masters World Championships are held in France.
