Delepine wins in Villars sous Ecot

The return of the Supermoto World Championship in France was successfull this weekend, despite bad weather on Sunday in Villars sous Ecot. Good attendance (9000 spectators over the weekend) and exciting racing were the keys to success.

Despite the rain, the riders raced on the entire track, including the off-road section, which was not damaged by the conditions. The main problem for the S2 riders was to race on a wet track with slick tyres, as the rain came when they were already on the starting line. But the quality of the asphalt was good enough to offer perfect conditions.



In the S1 class, SCOTT teamrider Gerald Delepine had a perfect weekend with the pole position, the super pole, and two heat wins. He came back fourth in the Championship and is confident about the future. “We did a great job with the team to set up the bike, and after the first race I knew that I could go faster in the next one; We changed some settings and I felt more comfortable, waiting for the right moment to pass Marcel Goetz, who claimed the holeshot. It was necessary for me to score 50 points as I had already one DNF in Italy, and now I’m sure that for the next races I will be able to battle for the win,” said Gerald. In the S2, Eddy Seel (SCOTT) got his first podium with Suzuki and is now third in the standings behind Chareyre and Thierry Van Den Bosch (SCOTT), the fastest Aprilia rider this weekend.
