Dirt Rag Magazine tests the Ransom SL
Dirt Rag Magazine put the SCOTT Ransom SL to the "All Mountain" test. The first paragraph pretty much sums it up.

All Mountain: I don't know if this name best personifies the majority of the bikes lumped into this category that have cross country functions with beefed up travel, but this term certainly applies to the Ransom SL. No matter what the terrain you'll find on the mountain, this bike can handle it. Super steep, long climbs, ultra-tech rock sections, high-speed, rough, and rutted out downhills...I was hard pressed to find a scenario that didn't showcase the abilities of this bike.
