World Cup Snowboarding: Jacobellis Wins Sixth SBX event
World Snowboard Cross (SBX) Champion Lindsey Jacobellis of Stratton Mountain, Vermont, won her sixth World Cup SBX event March 6 to close the State Farm U.S. Snowboard Cup in Lake Placid, New York.
The win came just a day after Jacobellis suffered a brutal frontside 900 to tailbone digger in the halfpipe finals and capped one of the most successful snowboard World Cup seasons for the U.S. in recent history. American riders busted onto the podium in parallel giant slalom, halfpipe and SBX.
“My body was definitely worse this morning,” said Jacobellis while holding a monster check for $9,200 and change. “I just tried to come out, stretch, and relax as much as possible this morning – I really don’t know how I was able to come back from yesterday.”
