Eight Olympic Medals!

It was a very successful fortnight for SCOTT athletes at the XX Olympic Winter Games Torino 2006: Two golds, three silvers and one bronze medal in alpine skiing; and one gold and one silver medal in snowboardcross – that’s the excellent summary of SCOTT supported athletes in Torino.

In women's snowboardcross, it was Tanja Frieden from Thun, Switzerland (SCOTT International Snowboard Team) who won the gold medal. The course designer made the first Olympic snowboardcross very challenging. Frieden was well prepared for the biggest race of her career and in a good mood to attack her competitors. She won gold in front of Lindsey Jacobellis of the U.S. (SCOTT International Eyewear Team). Jacobellis was leading Frieden but due to a crash, following a mistake on the second-to-last kicker, she was overtaken by Frieden and finished the race in second position, winning the silver medal.

In Alpine Skiing, where SCOTT is supporting athletes with helmets, goggles, ski poles, shin guards and back protection, the medals were no big surprise. Janica Kostelic of Croatia won gold in the women's combined and silver in the women's super-g. Alpine skiing hero Kjetil Andre Aamodt from Norway had an amazing race in the Men’s Super G and won the gold medal just a few days after injuring his knee. On the same day, in the same race, Swiss speed specialist Ambrosi Hoffmann took the bronze medal. In the Men’s Combined it was Ivica Kostelic from Croatia who won the silver medal with a fantastic race in the Slalom. France's Joel Chenal took the silver medal in the Men’s Giant Slalom.

SCOTT Sports SA congratulates its eight Olympic medalists and thanks them all for their trust in SCOTT products.
