Scott Skiers in San Francisco for ICER Air

Scott Team members Tim Russell, Ashley Battersby, Henrik Harlaut and up and coming groms Alex Schlopy and Colby Albino all showed up at San Francisco’s AT&T Park to hit the 15-story high ski jump. The event consisted of qualifying rounds for skiers and snowboarders, then a main event under the stadium lights after Jurassic 5 finished playing. The event was awesome, with Tony Hawk skating the vert ramp, a wakeboard demo out in nearby San Francisco Bay that you could see from your seats in the stadium, and performances from Ladytron and J5.

The jump itself was a bit sketchy to say the least, as you can see from the picture. The in-run was more like a double kink, jarring riders out of rhythm and off balance. Most riders required a pole fling-in to get enough speed. It was only a matter of time before someone caught an edge on the landing and went off onto the 2x4s and or into the metal barricades. Kaya Turski did just that, and got carted off to the hospital. She is reported to be recovering from internal injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. The event was again a success, with lots of industry people and athletes having a good time at the many parties that surrounded the event.
